National Citizen Party convener and opposition chief whip Nahid Islam on Sunday announced Nasiruddin Patwary and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan as the party’s mayoral candidates for the Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation elections respectively.
The announcement came at coordination meetings with prospective councillor candidates from different wards of the two city corporations.
Nahid Islam provided guidelines to the prospective councillor candidates at the meetings, according to party leaders.
He directed party leaders to identify suitable prospective councillor candidates for different wards and address ward-specific civic problems as part of their election preparations.
He also instructed the leaders to maintain regular contact with the families of those killed and injured during the July uprising.
Nahid further directed them to remain vigilant about what he described as subversive activities of the ousted Awami League.
Among others, NCP Dhaka South metropolitan convener Ishaq Sarkar and Dhaka North metropolitan convener Ariful Islam Adib were present at the meetings.
